Montenegro is fast re-establishing itself as a tourist destination of choice, with one of the fastest growing tourist industries in the world. This has been largely triggered by the burgeoning housing market and considerable foreign interest in the country. Although statistics are hard to come by, it is thought that since 2004, when Montenegro first found its way back onto the international map, well over 1000 Britons and Irish have invested in properties alongside many other nationalities including Scandinavians, Austrians, Italians, Germans, Hungarians and Russians. With Eco-tourism gaining popularity and potential for both summer and winter resorts in the mountain regions such as Durmitor, Kolasin, Zabljak and the Tara Canyon, and the famous Skadar Lake in the south, this is an undeveloped area with great potential.
