Why invest in Montenegro Properties?
Montenegro is fast re-establishing itself as a tourist destination of choice, with one of the fastest growing tourist industries in the world. This has been largely triggered by the burgeoning housing market and considerable foreign interest in the country. Although statistics are hard to come by, it is thought that since 2004, when Montenegro first found its way back onto the international map, well over 1000 Britons and Irish have invested in properties alongside many other nationalities including Scandinavians, Austrians, Italians, Germans, Hungarians and Russians. Property prices have risen dramatically with some of the most popular areas seeing as much as 30% growth in the last year (2005).
It is still possible to find real bargains along the Montenegrin coastline with views over the Adriatic, starting from Herceg Novi (just south of the Croatian border and Dubrovnik), around the Bay of Kotor including the UNESCO protected towns of Perast and Kotor, heading further south to Budva, Becici, Rafailovici, Sveti Stefan, Petrovac, Sutomore, Bar and Ulcinj; some of the last on Europe’s coast. With Eco-tourism gaining popularity and potential for both summer and winter resorts in the mountain regions such as Durmitor, Kolasin, Zabljak and the Tara Canyon, and the famous Skadar Lake in the south, this is an undeveloped area with great potential.
So small and compact as Montenegro is, it offers great prospective returns from real estate for the investor as well as a fantastic destination for those searching for a holiday home.
"The most beautiful contact between the earth and sea took place at the Montenegrin littoral". Byron
